City of Ashes

I know the review is late, but I finished reading the book on time. The only reason I never wrote about it was because I was not sure what I really wanted to say.

In this book, we continue the journey with Clary and the Shadowhunter’s world. Some big things happen: Simon gets turned into a vampire and the war begins with Valentine. Two huge things. But another part of the tension in this book is between Clary and Jace who have recently found out they are brother and sister after falling in love with each other. Clary thinks its so wrong and Jace wishes to pursue it. By the end of the book…they flip. All I can think is, “NO! She was going to say she loves you why change now?!? NO! NO!! NO!!!” And then I realized, am I really rooting for this kind of relationship?? Do I really want a brother and sister in love with each other? Why would the author wants us to feel this way because she clearly did it for a reason.

Another little twist that gets added in the last few pages is that this random person knows how to wake up Clary’s mother. And if that happens, how is she going to feel about all of this? Knowing her daughter knows everything shes tried to hide from her, the cup she hid is now gone, and her son who she thought was dead is actually alive? If I was her, I don’t think I’d want to wake up. I rather be sleeping and naive to the shenanigans happening around me.

I still love this book series, I think even more now. Next up: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban!

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

I finished this one last night…I don’t feel good because I have strep throat so all I really felt like going was sitting around and reading. Plus I am really enjoying the series. So I just couldn’t help myself.

I love the adventure of this series. I just can’t stop myself from reading them. I love following Harry through everything. I do, however, find Harry to be a troublemaker. I know it’s the story, but he seems to always be snooping and getting in the middle of things. I did enjoy how Hermonie was more eager to get involved this time. I did however like the message that Harry is where he is supposed to be. I just wish he didn’t have to spend any more time with the Dursely’s and Harry could just stay there.

Apart from our book list, I read Nerd in Shining Armor by Vicki Lewis Thompson. I had read this book a year ago and just loved it and had just as much fun reading it again…I would definitely recommend it to anyone for a great beach read this summer!!! It makes me glad to have my own guy to cuddle with.

Assuming I can control myself, next up is City of Ashes!!

City Of Bones

Finished just in time! I have missed this series deeply. And I am sooo glad to be rereading it because of the making of the film!! I can feel it is going to be epic.

I read three of the books long ago but I did not remember all of the details of it…I loved the way the plot twists and how you find out all the information along with the other characters. The way these books are written is just amazing.

My favorite part of this book is the love between Clary and Jace. The frustrations of finding out they are brother and sister is fantastic. My favorite line from the series is, “That sounds terrific, thought Clary. Just you, your comatose wife, your shell-shocked son, and your daughter who hates your guts. Not to mention that your two kids may be in love with each other. Yeah, that sounds like a perfect family reunion.” -pg.444

Overall, I fell in love with this book series once again and I can not wait to continue and for the other books to come out…I really should probably invest in these books since I love them so freaking much.

Now, unto Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets!!!!

Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone

I have never read any of the Harry Potter books before this, and I have only seen the first movie. I guess its time I time I follow the rest of the world and get lost in the world of wizardry that is Hogwarts.

As I said, I have seen the first movie a few times, but a while a go. But knowing what it looked like helped me picture all the characters in their adventures. Even though I knew what was gong to happen, I felt compelled to keep reading. I’ve been sucked into the world. Congratz J.K. Rolling…you’ve gotten another fan…I’m just a little late on getting on the ban-wagon! ;)

This was also the first book I have read online. I did not have time to get to the library, but I have already finished it before it came in! Hopefully the other books come in on time.

Next is the first book in the Mortal Instruments series, but I can not wait to come back to this one :)
